Mike's Grandma

Mike's Grandma has had a tough few months and is having a very hard time right now with her health. We love her very much and are worried about her. Our sweet little kids pray for her and and GG Titus everyday. It's hard to know that people we love are so sick. It's good to know the Lord loves them and is mindful of them. I believe that when prayers are offered, the burden becomes lighter. I know God does not leave us alone. In fact, we become each others angels and we are all supported by a loving Heavenly Father. We're going to Cedar today to see Grandma and to have the kids see her. When I told Anna this morning that Grandma was sick, she just kept saying, "Oh, I can't believe Grandma is sick. How can I make her feel better?" I know my children have a sensitive spot for illness. Their sweet, high pitched voices are full of joy and it's hard not to smile when they are singing or saying kind words. They know how to lift people's spirits.

I promise I'm not a slacker.....

I promised pictures, but I shouldn't have. Our camera needs a new battery and we just simply don't have money to buy it until Friday, so I have no pictures to offer. Believe me, I'm sad about it. No first day of school pics (but we'll pretend and take them later). The other thing is that I have a hard time FINDING time to get on and blog, facebook, e-mail, etc. Between teaching, Tuacahn, and kids, I don't usually have a moment. The only reason I'm on here right now is because Anna is taking EXTRA long eating lunch and Brayden is playing with a bag (whatever keeps them happy). Hey, a moment is a moment. Alright, I don't want this to turn into a complaining post. I'm not complaining. I love my life and kids and jobs and husband and almost everything else too. But the thing I love MOST right now is..........sleep ;)

Julianna: For my birthday I want the lights to be turned off and when I walk in everyone says SURPRISE and I am surprised. Can we do that Mom?

Mom: Well, I can't tell you if we're doing that if you want it to be a surprise.

Julianna: Mom, I'm the one who told YOU!

What a Week!

Wow, we are all tired! We started our school schedule this week and it hit us all in the face- especially since we had a pretty laid back summer. Ty started 1st grade on Monday! Can you believe it? I can't. I took him on Monday and went into his class with him. He was excited and nervous. When he sat at his desk and started playing with the blocks the teacher had provided, he soon forgot about me and I said goodbye. I am such a boob. I totally started getting teary as I walked down the hall. I was trying to hide it so the other hundred parents in the hall wouldn't see. Pathetic- I know. I was glad that Ty was going back to school because he and Anna had started getting on each others nerves in the last two weeks, but I'm going to miss him dang it! Anyway, that was also Brayden and Anna's 1st day with the sitter. I was sad about that too. Mike and I had teacher meetings all day and we learned how to climb Mt. Everest (though I'm still not completely sure how that compares to teaching). Tuesday and Wednesday we took Anna and Bray with us to our schools to prep and then Thursday school started. We wake up at 6 Mike goes to work at 6:40, drop off at the sitter at 7:30, drop off carpool at 8, then I go to my school. I get done at 11:30, pick up Anna from school, pick up Bray, then head home. Mike gets home around 4:30 and then I'm off to Tuacahn at 7:30. The days are full. I'm still a little torn over teaching again, but I think I'll like it. I do miss my kids though. I'll get some school pictures up. Anna officially starts on Monday, so we are waiting to take pictures until then. She's SO excited. Oh, and on a side note, Ty stared gymnastics and Anna is ready to start dance again. They are happy to be doing things again.

Happy Anniversary!

No not that anniversary. Yesterday was my 4 yr anniversary of my brain blowing up. Guess where I was- getting a brain scan. Yep, me and the MRI were hanging out- ya know, just catching up, reliving the good old times. I thought to myself "It's been 4 years- enough already!" This week has SUCKED (for lack of a better word). Sunday I had a complete brain freeze. Slurred talking, blurry vision, dizziness to the point that I couldn't walk. All "normal" symptoms of my bad days, but it ended with a bloody nose that lasted 30 min. That hadn't happened before- EVER. I called and left a message for my Neuro who called back with great concern and urged me to go to the ER. I'm not a big fan of the ER nor the $1000 bill they send after, so opted to wait for a spot in his schedule. Went in on Tuesday and he did a bunch of stuff to me including taking 11 vials of blood. My head ache is apparently being caused by a problem with a nerve in my head, the dizziness/blurry vision is just part of my normal condition, the tired-ness (I could fall asleep at any moment even if I'm standing) is related to my brain injury, but the bloody nose was still a concern. He ordered the MRI and it came back with no new problems. I was glad for that. The bloody nose is still without a cause. He gave me a shot in my head to help with the headache (an it worked VERY well) and explained that normal people use about 50% of their energy in keeping the brain working everyday. People with brain "issues" use about 65% of their energy to keep the brain functioning and that doesn't include the medication side effects, so basically I was given a lecture on not doing so much and sleeping a lot more then I am now. I do love my Neurologist. He's the best and I couldn't ask for better care. So anyway, though my symptoms aren't gone, they have been getting better everyday and I'm just glad I don't have any new problems. I'm waiting on a few blood tests to come back still, but I think I'm pretty much in the clear. Now to try and "take it easy" and get "more sleep". Not sure that's possible until Tuacahn ends, but I will try.

Krista's Wedding

Krista (Mikes sister) got married to Jon Miller yesterday in the St. George Temple. It was quite the weekend. She went through the temple on Thursday- Mike went to the session. Friday we helped set up for the reception and then I stayed for a bridal dinner/shower. I had to leave early for my show, but the part I stayed for was very nice. On Saturday they were married in the morning. We had planned on leaving the kids with a babysitter, but Krista wanted the kids there for the pictures, so I ended up staying home so I could get the kids ready and Mike went to the ceremony. We took pictures at the temple and then went home. We skipped the lunch/dinner because we knew the kids would never last if we tried to do everything, and then went to the church for pictures at 5:30. Anna wore a pink dress with white lace over the top and the boys wore their matching Easter clothes. I did Anna's hair in curls- she looked so cute! She felt like a princess- especially when we were at the temple. Mike helped with the music, I just did little things here and there, and Ty and Anna ran around the church with new found friends. They were so happy to have the kids to play with. It made me think of when I was a kid running around with friends during events that required all the adults to be "boring" and playing on the stage and in the church classrooms. For the first part, however, Ty and Anna watched with growing anticipation as the food was prepared (they had a chocolate fountain with a lot of goodies). Needless to say, when the food line opened, my kids were first in line. Brayden was on the move the whole time and only got sad toward the end. We thought they did pretty good considering they usually go to bed at 8 and were up until 10. We helped clean up and then came home and crashed. Krista looked very pretty and I'm sure she's very happy. The kids don't know Jon very well, but they think it's great that they have a new uncle. Anyway, there's a short rundown of the weekend. Wish I had some pictures. If I get any from those who had cameras, I'll be sure to post them.
