I can't believe we are nearly DONE with summer break. Here in crazy land school starts in the middle of August- on a Thursday none-the-less. SO, Mike starts meetings next Monday, Anna and Tyson both have Back-to-School on Tuesday, and the rest of the week will be cramming to get the last bit of stuff bought for our 1st grader and 2nd year pre-schooler. Ty's charter school starts on the 10th and Mike and I start teacher work that day. I have a great friend who is going to watch Anna and Brayden for me. I'm not looking forward to leaving them- especially Brayden. He's going to have a few really tough days (and so will the sitter) and I don't think I will hold up that well either. Anna starts school on the 17th and will go 4 days a week. She gets done at the same time I do, so I'll pick her up on my way home. I'll also be playing in Annie still and the new fall show- Aida- out at Tuacahn. I think I'm going to go insane. I honestly don't know how I will do it but somehow it'll work- right?
As for accomplishments, the kids have done some great stuff this summer. As of this week, the kids have read 140 books combined in our library summer program. Every week they've gotten a coupon for free stuff around the city. It's been fun for our family to celebrate the achievements each week by using the coupons (and saving us some money at the same time). The kids had swimming lessons, did a lot of art projects, played with friends, swam some more, and just overall enjoyed the time at home.
I set two goals this summer. The first was to lose 10 pounds and the second was to be up to running 4 miles by the time school stated. I'm almost there on both goals. Next week should be it for both.
I don't know if Mike set any actual goals this summer, but he's done a lot. He volunteered to direct the rehearsals of the summer marching band down here, which took up a lot of his time. He did a great job and the band sounded really good at the Days of 47 Parade in SLC on the 24th of July. He has gotten a lot of work done for his job as the Staff Developer at his school (along with teaching band). He has been learning to play the drum set and is doing pretty well with that. I also have to give him big kudos for not going crazy this summer being home a lot. He usually can't stand summer because of the lack of a formal schedule and for that reason he normally has a summer job. This summer was different- no jobs available, so I am proud of him for hanging in there with us.
Off to a new adventure with Mike's full time job, my three part-time jobs (I'm still doing SUPAF), our kids school stuff, and all the other extra stuff the kids are involved in day to day. Wish us luck........
