I went forever without posting because there wasn't much going on. Now it seems there's something everyday to post. I think I might just be behind this whole summer.
Mike and I ran the Midnight 5K on Friday. Bruce came over and stayed at the house and we had a nice little date. The race started at 11pm and we ran it in 36 min. I beat my time. That was good taking into account that the wind was HORRIBLE!!!! I felt like I was running up against a wall! We kept going though! It was really fun to run with Mike. We had been given a bunch of light sticks to wear and blinking pins for our clothes. I think we'll do it again next year. Now I prepare for the Utah Summer Games 10K. Don't think I'll talk Mike into that one, but he's been such a great support to me with this running thing. It's been a really good thing for me both physically and mentally. I had no idea that I would like something that I've hated most of my life.
Tyson started piano lessons today. His teacher is Jacqueline Anderson. I met her through SUPAF. She has been a judge for years and I think she has THE BEST attitude and personality for teaching kids. I sat through this first lesson and I am sold! I think she is great. She has some very effective motivational tools to keep kids interested and knows how to help them create. I am looking forward to seeing what he learns this year!
Anna has had her cute belly her whole life, but we learned today that it may be a result of something bad. She has complained of tummy aches for a long time. I noticed it a lot when she started pre school last year. The whole first half she would complain at school about her tummy hurting, but she had done that in the past to get out of things she didn't like. I thought she didn't like school and was using it as a way to come home. I had her stick it out and the tummy aches seemed to stop. But they came back. It's been on and off since then and I've realized it's a real thing. I thought it might be milk products because she had an intolerance as a baby, but that's not it. Lately it has seemed to be after she has sugar. The past few weeks have been really bad as her tummy ache has been accompanied by either nausea or throwing up. That's when we decided we couldn't just watch it anymore. The doctor ordered blood work and x-rays today. He says that it may be nothing, but in the mean-time has given us some meds for her. The cute belly is most likely a symptom- he's says it's bloated and that's why it sticks out. Mike and I felt like the worst parents ever today. We just hope that this will lead to a treatment that will help her feel better. She was a trooper getting her blood drawn. She was VERY scared. She cried and I just held her until the nurse came in. She asked me why I couldn't just do it for her. I would have given ANYTHING to just do it for her! The woman explained everything so well to Anna and helped her breath through the "poke". Not a single tear when the blood was actually drawn. She was very excited to have a picture taken of her belly. She just walked right in like she owned the place. In the end, she had 5 stickers and 2 suckers. She's so dang cute and still so small for her age that everyone adores her. That's the way to be!
That's our summer so far. Brayden's b-day is on Thursday and then we are off to Panguitch lake for a nice vacation! We are so excited to get away for a few days. Hopefully I'll have some great photo's up on the next post!
