A Mother's Moment

So, Ty does this really gross thing of picking his nose and wiping the snot on the wall of his bedroom. You would think he was making a collage or some kind of collection. It drives me CRAZY and I've talked to him a number of times about getting up to get a tissue and not to spread boogers on the wall, then I've proceeded to scrap the dried snot off the wall (nasty). Anyway, I was getting Brayden ready this morning and noticed a whole new "collection" on his wall. I have HAD it! I called him up stairs (at which point he replied "I didn't do it" even though he had no knowledge as to why I was calling him) and pointed out the problem in a rather annoyed voice. I then got him a wet rag and gave him instructions that he would be scraping and cleaning the wall. I told him that if the snot wasn't there, he would not have to do this job, but because it is there, he has to work to make it better. He understands this concept when it comes to toys on the ground, cleaning up dishes, putting clothes away, but apparently not with cleaning boogers off walls. About two minutes into it he started whining "I can't do it...it's too hard.....am I done yet....." etc. After I told him to keep going he yelled "I'M NEVER WORKING AGAIN!". I had to laugh. After he cleaned the wall he told me he would use a tissue or napkin from now on because he didn't like cleaning boogers off the wall. I think he learned a lesson; I guess we'll find out......
