The end of the day

So, yes, I had a great b-day and thanks to all of you (particularly my hubby and his family) for making the day great (oh, and who can forget the ham, "sigh"). The end was rather humorous however. It never stopped raining. Ever. BUT the show wasn't canceled either. Does this pose a problem, yes. If it rains too much, the admin. will call a 20 min. break to see if it dies down then they will either continue or cancel the remainder of the show. For some reason, the admin. were drunk and dancing in the rain or something along those lines, because the "show went on" but the orchestra was drowning. We have this cover over us to protect us, but to make things more interesting, the cover broke a month ago and it just flops around over us (makes US feel REALLY safe) and water pools on the top of it. When the wind is blowing, it brings the cover up and the water dumps off it. Yep, you guessed it- I got dumped on THREE times. I was soaked! Not to mention it poured the entire last half of the show. I thought I was prepared with my jacket and a blanket, but when all of the things you have to keep you warm are soaked, it kinda defeats the purpose. So, I'm holding a brass instrument which is freezing cold, it's covered in water so my hands are ice, I'm completely wet and the wind is blowing like crazy. A PERFECT way to end a birthday. I just laughed. What else could I do. The upside: My fellow horn player and friend in the show, Brooke, brought me some cupcakes and she had everyone sing Happy Birthday. She's awesome and so are the people I work with.

I thought for sure you would have the night off! Sorry to hear that you had such a cold night, but glad it had a happy ending.

Okay, so I am a jerk of a friend who forgot your birthday even when you mentioned it just last week. I am happy to see you didn't outgrow your wonderful attitude for life.
