A Child's Prayer

We have been trying to sell our condo for sometime now. We haven't been aggressive because we have good renters and don't want to disturb them. It's now come to a point where we just have to get rid of it. We've been praying as a family that it will sell. Anna has taken this to heart. I heard her talking when I got up this morning. I stood at her doorway and watched as my little girl, by her own will, sat on the edge of her bed with her hands folded in her lap saying words I could not hear. I silently watched her, knowing she was praying. When she was done, she looked up at me. I asked her what she had been saying. She said, "Mom, I was asking for our house to sell."

My faith is not that strong, but through the faith of this little child, I believe God can move mountains. I am amazed by my girl and I know with her faith our home will sell.

I just thought I would write that so I can look back on this and remember.

Seven Things

Seven things I can do:
1. Teach Music. I love it.
2. Play my instruments. In fact, this was my first love.
3. Mother. I do it quite often. I'm better at it then I used to be but not to where I want to be.
4. Be funny. I like to make people laugh. I don't always do it, and if you don't know me well, chances are good you think I'm either really serious or stuck up. If you actually get to know me, you'll find that I tend to be fun (and sarcastic).
5. Make food. Yes, I do like to cook unless I'm really busy. But, I do make good food generally unless you talk to my kids, they will tell you otherwise.
6. Organize. I never thought I was very organized until I grew up a bit. When you have to control the lives of 4 people who live with you and keep track of the homework, parties, thought processes (such as put on your coat, get your shoes, etc) you find a whole new realm of organization.
7. Crafts. I love just spending time creating. I have no time to do it, but it is an integral part of who I am and one day I'll reclaim it.

Seven things I can't do:
1. I really can't sing very well. I can carry a tune and maybe I'm a little more advanced then the average truck driver, but I need a few lessons.
2. Sports. Don't ask me to ever be on your team. I've always wanted to be athletic, but I have no natural ability and I pretty much suck.
3. Loose the last 15 pounds. Yep, I just can't do it. Maybe it's time to call Jenny Craig.
4. Stand on cliffs. I have a never ending fear of heights. I've been know to cry like a little baby.
5. Act. Another skill I've always wanted, but again, I have not talent.
6. Write HTML.
7. Get enough time in with the hubby. We never date and we seldom see each other. It's getting ridiculous.

Seven things I say most:
1. Absolutely
2. I love you
3. Honey
4. Awesome
5. TYSON!!!!
6. Baby talk back to my Brayden
7. Pleeeeeeeease

Seven Goals for the New Year:
1. Loose that 15 pounds
2. Have more time with Mike
3. Be more patient with my kids
4. Be a better member of the church
5. Take voice lessons
6. Take composition lessons
7. Juggle my jobs and my kids better so I don't freak out about life

Seven reasons I fell in Love with Mike:
1. We have so much in common through music
2. We laugh together
3. He is a spiritual example to me
4. He always did thing to make me feel special
5. He's a hottie
6. He is a leader and very motivated
7. It was meant to be....

Seven things I love to eat:
1. Oatmeal
2. My enchiladas
3. Mongolian BBQ
4. Chocolate Covered Raisins
5. Breads (this is why I can't loose the 15)
6. Candy (this is the other reason I can't loose the 15)
7. Olive Garden

Seven people I tag:
1. Mandi
2. Bethany
3. Amy G.
4. Melanie
5. Veronica
6. Marti
7. Stacie

More Brayden

A sick baby that doesn't stop smiling. Well, ok, he's has stopped a few times. I'm starting to feel bad because I post TONS of Brayden, a few of Anna, and almost NONE of Tyson. He's usually at school when I have time to pull out the camrea, so I just never get any of him. I need to do better. But I hope you enjoy this little guy anyway..... I can always get a good photo shoot while he's in his high chair. Maybe it's because he's stuck and can't scoot, roll, or crawl away from me.
I took this one night when he was really sick. I set him down for about a minute. He was crying and fussy and then all the sudden silence. I thought something had happened but when I turned around, he was out cold on the carpet. It was so sad. Poor baby.

Another high chair photo.

Brayden was wide awake in this picutre. He just wanted Daddy. They stayed like that for a half hour or more.

That Festival thing

Here's a sample of what I've done all week. We started on Monday and this week completed the vocal, string, and piano solo and ensembles. There were 6 sessions on Monday, 3 on Tuesday, 5 on Wednesday, and 2 on Thursday. Each session lasts about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and a judge sees anywhere from 15-30 kids (depending on the level of the students). The string and piano students were divided into levels (beg, inter., and adv.). We had 268 piano students participate, 111 string students, and 55 vocal students. Next week we will have one session of dance, and the following week we will have all of the bands, orchestras, choirs, woodwinds, brass, and percussion perform. My next step is to identify the scholarship winners and plan the awards night set for March 6th. The hardest part about this week has been having a sick baby. I have left a lot of the work up to volunteers who have kept things running while I've taken Brayden to get RSV treatments twice a day at the hospital. Anna had a hard time on Monday and Tuesday so I ended up having two kids tagging along during the sessions. It was ok, but my stress levels are sky high right now.

One of my favorite adjudicators with a very prepared student.

Joyful Voices under the direction of Jenny Baker.

One of my helpful volunteers checking people in at the info desk.

Another one of my favorite adjudicators taking time to work with a duet.

This lady came twice to help. She kept one of the doors to a performance room closed while students took turns playing. She also kept tabs on the students who had performed (so we could stay on schedule).

Just a post

SUPAF began yesterday. There were a few little problems, but nothing huge and they were easily solved. The piano sessions will end today and strings and vocal begin tomorrow.

Last Thurs. Brayden got sick again, but this time really bad. We took him in on Thurs and they said to watch him. Well, we have. We've watched him throw up meals, cough, stay up all night crying, falling asleep exhausted on the floor and just turn into a totally different baby. Mike took him in again yesterday while I was at the event and they say he has a double ear infection and RSV. He's so sick and miserable. I have had him with me all day today and because there were so many wonderful volunteers this morning, I came home so he could have a nap. We have been giving him nasal spray and sucking stuff out or his nose. He's on an antibiotic that may or may not work depending on if the ear infection is bacterial or not. The doc. also gave us a prescription to the RSV clinic where they use tubes to suck all the mucus out of the babies chests. That's how they keep them out of the hospital. It couldn't be worse timing for him to get so sick, but I'll do whatever needs to be done for him first. That's why I'm so grateful for the amazing help for the RSVP volunteers and the Exchange Club right now so that I don't have to be there if I don't need to be. It's hard, however, after doing so much hands on work to trust the actual event to others to run, but I'm organized and that is why I can leave. I have given them all specific jobs and the tools to complete them, so it's all good.

And just to update you, Anna is not going to be in Annie- she was too young- but I'm sure this girl will audition for something again. She loves it.

Annie Audition

Anna auditioned for Tuacahn's "Annie" today. She was so dang cute. I talked to a friend who worked there and she said the director was thinking about casting girls from 1st grade up, so there's little chance my 4 year old will be chosen, but she loved the experience. They took the girls into the room 4 at a time. They each took their turn saying there name and singing. The other moms didn't go in, but I did because my girl was so little (I feel lucky). Anyway, when it was Anna's turn, she got right up, stated her name in her high pitched little voice, and announced what she was going to sing. The pianist is a friend of mine so that was kinda neat. Anna was a little quiet, so they had her move closer to the director and sing again. They just thought she was the cutest thing. They gave her a sucker at the end and that made her day. On the way out she squealed "I did it, Mom!". I am so proud of her.

My Anna

Anna is a very spiritually minded little girl. She has a lot of faith and loves Heavenly Father so much. Lately, when she's playing house or something, Heavenly Father is one of her friends that goes everywhere with her. On trains, in her house- everywhere. Her prayers are SO long. She asks Him to bless everyone and everything about 10 times in each prayer. It's sweet, except at dinner time when we are all starving and she says a 5 min. prayer. She carries around books all the time because she loves to read. What is interesting though, is that instead of carrying around favorite childhood books, she carries scriptures or anything that remotely looks like them. It drives Mike crazy because it's usually his scriptures or his church books. It's hard, however, to tell her that she can't carry and "read" those books when she loves them so much.

Today, she woke up and her voice was cracking. Her audition for Annie is tomorrow and she was worried she wouldn't be able to sing. I told her that she can say a prayer and that Heavenly Father can help her. I was surprised by her response. She looked at me and said, "Well, Mom, maybe Daddy can say the pray for me because he has the special power when he puts his hands on my head." I just couldn't help but feel blessed by witnessing the pure faith of a little child. I felt humbled. Her faith is stronger then mine and I can see what is meant by "having the faith of a child". She so pure and I can't help but wonder if there is some memory that she still carries deep inside her of the premortal existence.
